What to Look for in a Fence Company Near You

What Actually Separates One Fence Company From Another

‌

If you have been searching for a "fence company near me", you have probably found several options around Knoxville. Here is what is worth checking before you pick one.

‌

1. Licensing — and the threshold that applies to you

Tennessee requires a contractor's license for projects of $25,000 or more, and that license must be in hand before bidding or negotiating a price. Knox County goes further: it is one of nine Tennessee counties where a Home Improvement license is required from $3,000 up. Verify anyone's license, classification and monetary limit at verify.tn.gov. Ours is Tennessee Unlimited #54371.

‌

2. Whether they know what the ground does here

Depth to bedrock across Knox and Loudon County runs from about 7 inches on a Montevallo soil to more than 60 on Corryton. Subsoil is 35 to 60 percent clay and the area takes nearly 52 inches of rain a year. Ask what happens to your price if the auger hits rock, and whether that is in the quote or a change order.

‌

3. A fence for every need

• Wood privacy fences
• Vinyl and decorative fences
• Chain link
• Aluminum and ornamental fencing
• Farm, pasture and agricultural fencing
• Commercial and industrial security fences

‌

4. Transparent pricing and free estimates

No hidden fees, and an on-site estimate rather than a number off satellite imagery.
